CROWLEY -- Kerry Ladd McDonald, 64, passed this life on Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, in Crowley after a long battle with COPD.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laurel Land.

Kerry grew up in the Poly area of Fort Worth and attended the Poly Church of Christ where she was baptized by Brother Leroy Brownlow. When she was a teenager, her family moved to Edgecliff Village. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1970. Kerry attended the University of Texas at Arlington planning to become a teacher like her aunts and uncle. After two years, she felt God called her to help others by entering the medical field. Kerry graduated from UTA in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked at various local hospitals and as a home health and hospice nurse.

In 1980, Kerry moved to Crowley. She served as treasurer for the Crowley Business and Professional Women's Association and also on the Parks and Zoning Board of Adjustments and Friends of the Crowley Library. In 1991 she was elected to the Crowley City Council and served two terms as councilwoman and mayor pro tem. Then in 1995 she left the council and married her best friend and soulmate, James "Mac" McDonald.

Kerry was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Barbara Ladd, and brother, Ronald Ladd.

Survivors: Kerry is survived by her husband of 21 years, James McDonald; son, Brandon Roach and wife, Michelle; grandson, Caleb Roach; stepchildren, Jimmy McDonald and Teresa Slade; aunt, Dorothy Jones and husband, Ken.
