FORT WORTH -- Jacqueline Claire Brown Kunke, 89, born Aug. 31, 1927, in Raton, N.M., went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016, at a Fort Worth care center.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Christopher Episcopal Church of Fort Worth. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers: The family request that memorials be sent to St. Christopher Episcopal Church and The Women's Center of Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH -- Jacqueline Claire Brown Kunke, 89, born Aug. 31, 1927, in Raton, N.M., went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, 2016, at a Fort Worth care center.

Jackie and her family moved to Fort Worth in 1930 where she was a lifelong resident, She attended Alice Carlson, McLean, Paschal, and TCU from which she received a B.S. degree in medical technology in 1948 and a M.S. degree in biology in 1970. She worked for 10 years as a med tech, including six years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Fort Worth before the Lord lead her into teaching. She taught science at Rosemont Middle School from 1964-1970. She then retired as the director of the Medical Laboratory Technology Program at Tarrant County Community College after 20 years of service in 1990. She gave her heart to her students and her work. Jackie was a devout Christian and was an active member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church where she served for several years on the vestry. She also volunteered her time as an employment advisor at the Women's Center in Fort Worth.

She had a wonderful life, loved her God, her family, and her many friends. She never met a stranger, always had a smile on her face, and spent her life helping others in any way she could. She was greatly loved and will be missed.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at the Silverado Care Center in Fort Worth for their kindness and loving care they gave to Mom in her last days.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jim Darby Kunke.

Don Brown and wife, Pat, of Louisville, Ky.; daughter, Cathy Berg; sons, Paul Rider and wife, Linda, Stephen Rider and wife, Cheryl, Jim Kunke and wife, Sharon; Grandchildren, James Kunke and wife, Laurie, Jonathan Berg, Allison Berg, Joseph Rider and wife, Christian, Jacob Rider and wife, Emily Elizabeth, Emily Claire Rider, Aaron Rider, Seth Rider, Hannah Rider, Jennifer Kunke, Jason Kunke; great-granddaughter, Macy Kunke; great-grandsons, Eli Rider, Benjamin Rider, Julian Rider; and cat, Mushroom.
