Dr. Foster B. Hamblin, 92, passed away March 9, 2017.

Dr. Hamblin was born December 13, 1924 in Millers Creek, KY.

He joined the Marine Corps when he was 17. He was in the Pacific during WWII, and was recalled for the Korean Conflict. He attended Eastern Kentucky University, University of Kentucky, and LSU where he earned his Ph.D. Dr. Hamblin was employed by the United Nation's Food and Agricultural Organization and worked in many countries including India, Iran, Venezuela, Pakistan, and Mexico.

Dr. Hamblin was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; and daughter, Pamela.


He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Townes and husband, Chris; granddaughter Adrienne Townes; and grandson, Kyle Townes and wife, Veronika; 3 great grandsons, William, Phillip, and Adam Townes; son in law, Matthias Hammerschmitt, sister, Lois Jo Eversole; brothers, Russell Hamblin, Tony Hamblin; and brother in law, William W. Creech.
